Cat Rehoming

At The Scratch Pad, we understand that life can take unexpected turns. If you find yourself in a situation where rehoming your beloved cat seems like the only option, we are here to help. Our goal is to ensure that every cat receives continuous love and care, even when transitioning to a new home. We encourage you to consider rehoming as a last resort, after exploring all other possibilities to keep your cat with you. Rehoming can be stressful for cats, and maintaining continuity in their environment is often in their best interest.

Our facility offers a comfortable, home-like, cage-free environment to ensure all cats feel safe and loved while they await their new homes. We strive to make their stay with us as stress-free as possible, providing them with the care and attention they need during this transitional period. We treat each cat as if they were our own, ensuring they receive the affection and comfort they are accustomed to. This setting helps prepare them for a smooth transition to their new families, making the rehoming process easier for both the cats and their new owners.

To help us maintain the high standard of care we provide, we charge a nominal fee of $50 for our rehoming services. This fee covers the expenses of caring for your cat while we assist in finding them a new home. Additionally, it is required that your cat be spayed or neutered and have up-to-date vaccination records before entering our care. This helps ensure the health and well-being of all cats in our facility.

Our Cat Rehoming Process

If you are considering rehoming your cat, we provide a process to make the transition as stress-free as possible. Here's how it works:

  • Check Availability: Contact us to confirm there is space available for your cat.

  • Bring Your Cat and Their Records: Once availability is confirmed, bring your cat to our facility along with all their medical and vaccination records.

  • Rehoming Fee: A nominal fee of $50 is required to cover the expenses of caring for your cat during the rehoming process.

  • Settling In: Your cat will initially stay in our "quiet room," a space designed to let them adjust to the new environment at their own pace, reducing stress and anxiety.

  • Gradual Integration: After settling in, we will slowly introduce your cat to the daily routines and other cats at our facility. This gradual process ensures they comfortably adapt to our communal, home-like setting.

  • Ongoing Care and Attention: Throughout this process, we focus on making the experience as gentle and reassuring as possible, preparing your cat for a smooth transition to their next loving home.
